WAAH or WOW?

It might be a coincidence that the abbreviation WAAH, means “wow” in the Hindi language, but WOW is what came to mind when I learned that this organization is was founded in 1894 and still goes strong!

What even is the WAAH?

Quoted from their website, so perfectly put:

* The Women’s Art Association of Hamilton (WAAH) provides a venue for women artists and art lovers to share their appreciation of visual arts in a mutually supportive atmosphere.

* Our members have opportunities to hear from a variety of guest speakers and artists, attend workshops, visit galleries, participate in exhibitions, excursions and social events.

* We provide opportunities for networking and expanding your artistic horizons. We inform you on what is going on in our art community and pass on calls for other exhibition opportunities.

I truly look forward to enjoying the upcoming events and meeting the members in the new year!

Featured in the 2022 SPCA calendar https://tarrynhayley.com/featuredinthe2022spcacalendar/ Sat, 04 Sep 2021 11:52:00 +0000 https://rarathemesdemo.com/fashion-trend-pro/?p=1142 It was my honour that the HBSPCA (https://www.hbspca.com/) invited me to contribute to their 2022 monthly calendar. They selected an animal (or in my case animals, 2 cats) they thought would suite my art style and presented me with a few reference photos to work from. I combine these two sweet half siblings into this pose, with a red background that I though complimented their beautiful dark coat. The painting was done on watercolour board, using watercolours.

All the contributor’s original art was donated to the SPCA where they auctioned off the art, as part of their fundraiser. The original painting is no longer available but art prints and note cards with this painting are available and proceeds continue to be donated to the SPCA.
